Younghee and her brother, Youngsoo, were among the 101 dogs rescued from the Siheung dog meat farm in May. When we first set foot on the farm, she would come up to the front of the cage and stand up, trying to get the rescuer’s attention. Since being rescued, she and the rest of the rescued dogs have been living at our partner boarding house.

It did not take Younghee long to settle in. She loves her freedom to roam around as she pleases and gets very excited when staff and volunteers are around.  Younghee did very well when she was being examined by the vet and was comfortable being handled from the beginning.

Having (presumably) been around dogs her entire life, she gets along well with them and is playful, although sometimes she gets a little bit scared of large size dogs. She has a submissive personality. When she is not following humans around the boarding house looking for attention she is playing with the other dogs. She is social and friendly to everyone she meets. It is hard to imagine she was rescued from a dog meat farm as she has been so happy go lucky and taken everything with such a positive outlook. She is non-reactive on leash.

Younghee currently has separation anxiety and does not like to have humans out of sight. This does not matter whether or not there is another dog around, it is humans she looks out for (she is currently in foster with her brother). Although she is making improvements, she will require a home where someone is home for the majority of the day until she can build her confidence in being alone.

Her ideal home is with a family who has the time to spend with her, seeing as she loves the company of people as she is still young. Someone who is retired or works from home and enjoys outdoor activities with dogs will be great.
