Meet Sangchoo, the Brave
Sangchoo was rescued from a dog-meat farm in Paju, Korea last August. She was about 5 month old at that time. The dog farm owner gave Sangchoo to the rescuer because she was too skinny and was disabled.
Fast forward to summer 2018, Sangchoo lives with her foster family and gets along with everyone so well. When Sangchoo is in an unfamiliar place/environment, she will immediately look for a place to hide. The foster family realized Sangchoo warms up in about 3 days. After the short adjustment time, she would feel comfortable and confident to go out for a walk with the foster parents. She still can be a bit skittish around men while she is walking with her trusted foster mom & dad.
Sangchoo is playful and friendly with other dogs. The only time that she gets a little bit senstivie and excited is when there are yummy snacks, bones, or Kong’s.
Sangchoo’s leg is genetically deformed; her leg was not fully grown when he was born. Fear not! There is no negative impact from the leg which would cause other health concerns! The vet recommended to keep the leg, rather than performing unnecessary amputation surgery. The vet recommended that Sangchoo wears this cool robo-dog looking brace to support his ‘good’ legs for better stability and mobility. She seems to strut evenly with her brace when going out for a walk. When she’s wearing her brace at home, some additional attention is required to make sure she is not chewing on the brace.
The brace on her ‘good’ leg is to ensure the good leg doesn’t over-work. Because her leg deformity was genetic, she was always putting all of her front weight to the good leg. She can still walk and run without the cool brace, but the brace will help reduce the weight and stress on the good leg and help with her bow-leggedness. Her hind legs are oh-so strong, she can do anything if she puts his mind to it!
The foster family says Sangchoo is a very witty and smart girl. The ideal home for Sangchoo would be a home with an existing, nice dog for Sangchoo to make friends with and outside of a busy city. Adopters with previous experience in developing canine friendship, who can commit to showing Sangchoo the life and the world she is about to discover.
