Get monthly updates about dogs like Princess 3 and follow their journey from suffering to a forever-loving home.
Last winter Princess and her sister, Seola, were rescued from a man who raised dogs for meat. They later lived at our partner’s boarding house until they flew to Canada. Seola was adopted by a wonderful family in Toronto, and Princess is currently with her foster family in Coquitlam looking for her forever home.
Given her young age and all the changes she has undergone, we are very proud of how Princess has taken everything in stride. While she can be a little bit shy in the beginning, she is ultimately a playful, sweet, and affectionate girl who enjoys a good cuddle session once acquainted.
Princess’s foster mom describes her a “perfect princess”. She eats well, sleeps well through the night, and is potty trained. She does her potty outdoors, but also understands the concept of pee pads. Now that she has settled in, she is a very friendly, easy going, and happy girl. She is her foster family’s shadow, following them where ever they are. As more of an introvert, Princess does fine with teens but gets nervous around young kids (but she never reacts aggressively).
Having grown up in a boarding house environment, Princess loves playing with other dogs as long as they are not aggressive. She gets excited when meeting new dogs and enjoys chasing games. She has attended doggy day care in Vancouver where she had a lot of fun meeting new dogs and playing chasing games. Princess currently lives with another small dog, and other foster dogs that have come to stay. She has never had an issue with other dogs. She has a submissive personality with people and other dogs.
Among Princess’s dislikes are the blow dryer, vacuum, and steam cleaner. She will let out a few barks when she is startled by a strange sound, but settles down once she is comforted and knows there is no threat.
Princess does not have any food allergies and eats the recommended amount of food each day, but they are split into 4 meals instead of the regular 2 to avoid acid reflux.
Her ideal adopter is one that has experience with dogs and lives relaxed but active lifestyle in a quiet neighborhood. Princess would enjoy a home with another dog as a companion, and humans who work are retired, work from home, or work opposite shifts as this is the situation she has become used to in her foster home.
