Background: Podo was one of seven poodles found chained and neglected on a farm last fall, likely hidden there by a suspected puppy mill owner. Thankfully, they were rescued and taken to a private shelter, where they spent a few months with other dogs. Earlier this year, they moved to our boarding house before Podo made his way to Toronto, where he is now living in a foster home.

Personality and Socialization: Podo embodies the classic poodle personality—affectionate, sociable, and adaptable. He is sociable and friendly with a medium-to-high energy level. A true cuddle bug, Podo isn’t shy around strangers and enjoys snuggling with his humans. Podo is intelligent, obedient, and gentle with humans. He has a calm and mellow nature, making him a wonderful companion.

With other dogs, Podo is friendly and enjoys playtime, especially with small dogs. However, when he needs a break, he prefers to rest undisturbed. He has a more confident and dominant personality rather than being overly submissive. He would thrive best as the only dog in a quiet home where he can fully relax without being bothered by other dogs.

Behaviour: Podo is well-behaved in the car, during baths, and at vet visits. He is generally quiet but will bark a bit during his meal time, expressing his joy and excitement. He has limited leash-walking experience but follows his human well and is eager to learn. Overall, he is a friendly and affectionate boy who adjusts well to new environments.

Health and Diet: Podo is neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. He takes monthly parasite preventatives, and all his parasite tests, including heartworm, came back negative (Podo had heartworm treatments previously). He eats dry kibble twice a day and has shown no signs of allergies.

Ideal Home: Podo thrives in the company of people, making him an ideal match for a family where someone is home most of the time—whether retired or working from home. While he enjoys playing with other dogs, he would be happiest as the only dog so he can fully relax in a peaceful environment. Podo is a loving, snuggly sweetheart who will bring endless joy to whoever is lucky enough to adopt him.
