Get monthly updates about dogs like Mikoya and follow their journey from suffering to a forever-loving home.

Mikoya’s journey began in May 2019 when she and her siblings were rescued from the streets and narrowly escaped a local high-kill shelter. Since then, she’s been living in a dog boarding house alongside other furry companions.

Mikoya is a social and popular girl among her fellow canines; she thrives in the company of gentle, friendly dogs. When it comes to people she knows, like shelter staff and volunteers, she’s very affectionate and snuggly. However, with strangers, she can be cautious, initially barking in self-defense.

Though she may take a bit of time to warm up to new faces, once she does, Mikoya transforms into a cuddly, affectionate companion. She’s comfortable with leash walks, baths, and car rides when accompanied by those she trusts. It’s worth noting that she’s wary around men and may bark at them.

The perfect adopter for Mikoya would be someone experienced with dogs like her. A male-free household is preferable, as she’s nervous around men. With a patient and dog-savvy owner living in a quiet neighborhood, Mikoya will thrive. While it may demand patience, she is a very affectionate, smart, loya, and cuddly girl. The rewards are truly worth the wait.

Mikoya is available for adoption. The fee to adopt Mikoya is $780.
