Get monthly updates about dogs like Mien and follow their journey from suffering to a forever-loving home.

Mien was rescued in the winter of 2020, carrying the marks of a tough life, including a scar from a cesarean section. She waited patiently for a family to call her own, but her wait continued. Now, she’s living happily with a foster family, a kind senior couple, and another Maltese in a cozy apartment. She adores the weekends when the house fills with visiting family members and she gets to bask in extra love and attention.

Mien is a bundle of affection with those she knows well, though she can be a bit shy around new faces. But don’t worry, give her a little time and a friendly smile, and she’ll warm up in no time. She’s even lived with young children before and was a perfect companion.

When it comes to other dogs, Mien is indifferent to other dogs generally. Her true joy lies in spending time with her humans. She loves her walks and even enjoys bath time, though she’s not too keen on the hairdryer. Car rides? She’s a champ!

Mien is a food lover with a hearty appetite. She experienced some separation anxiety initially in her foster home, but she’s grown more comfortable and confident now.

Health-wise, Mien manages Cushing’s disease and requires monthly medication, which costs between $80 ~ 150 CAD/month. She also has a stage 1.5 patellar luxation, but it doesn’t slow her down. Regular walks and exercise to strengthen her muscles are all part of her routine.

Mien’s ideal home would be with someone who has plenty of time to share with her. Perhaps someone retired or working from home would be perfect. She’s a sweet, loving little girl who’s ready to fill your life with joy and cuddles. She’s not just looking for a house; she’s looking for a home where she can be your cherished companion.
