**Note: Mickey is available for adoption in Vancouver. His flight from Korea to Vancouver is scheduled for May 8.

Background: Mickey was one of 16 dogs saved from a hoarding situation. The elderly owner fell ill and was hospitalized. The dogs were left neglected, causing complaints from neighbors. A shelter volunteer discovered the issue, eventually leading to the rescue of all the dogs.

Current Environment: Mickey was residing at a local shelter with other dogs. However, earlier this year, he found a foster family, a couple living in an apartment, and has since been living with another dog from the same hoarding situation.

Personality: Mickey is exceptionally gentle and quiet, initially shy but quick to warm up. He possesses a calm, submissive nature, described by his foster as one of the best and most gentle souls among the many rescue dogs they have cared for.

Behaviors: Mickey behaves well on a leash, matching his foster’s pace and displaying patience during baths and car rides. He is house-trained, fine with people, and mostly indifferent to children. However, he is anxious around loud noises such as the hair dryer and vacuum cleaner. Additionally, he has a fear of nail clipping.

Socialization: Initially shy around strangers, Mickey warms up over time, particularly with women. He is gentle and submissive, getting along well with other dogs and avoiding confrontation.

Health: Mickey has successfully overcome heartworms and is now in good health. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and receives monthly flea, tick, and mosquito preventatives.

Ideal Home: Mickey would thrive in a patient and quiet environment, ideally with another friendly and gentle fur sibling. A home where someone works from home or is retired, able to provide the time and attention Mickey needs, would be perfect for him.
