Get monthly updates about dogs like Leon and follow their journey from suffering to a forever-loving home.

Background: In 2021, a three-month-old puppy named Leon was rescued from the streets and brought to the safety of a shelter. Since then, he’s been living happily with other dogs, patiently waiting for his perfect forever home.

Personality & Socialization: Leon can be a bit shy at first, and it may take some time for him to open up. However, once he becomes familiar with his environment and people, he transforms into a friendly and affectionate companion. His adopter should have experience with shy dogs and understand that Leon’s limited life experience means patience is key.

When it comes to other dogs, Leon can be a bit selective. He enjoys being around other dogs but dislikes those who are overly hyper or bossy. A calm, confident, and patient dog, like a big brother or sister, would be an ideal match for him. Overall, Leon feels more at ease when he has another dog by his side, helping him open up more quickly and trust people faster than if he were the only dog.

When it comes to people, Leon is very comfortable and affectionate with those he knows well. However, he tends to be a bit timid around strangers until he has a chance to get familiar with them. With time and patience, he will warm up and show his loving side.

Behaviors: Leon is still learning how to walk on a leash. He does well with the shelter staff in familiar settings, but he can get nervous in new environments. Having a confident and gentle dog by his side will be a big help in boosting his confidence.

While Leon isn’t a fan of baths or being carried, he remains patient and allows his humans to handle it. Once he trusts his people, he lets them take care of him. He prefers to go potty outdoors, but he will use indoor pee pads if necessary.

Health and Diet: Leon is neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on all his vaccinations. He also takes monthly preventatives for internal and external parasites. He’s healthy, and ready to bring peace and love to his forever home. He enjoys dry kibbles twice a day. Currently, there are no known allergies.

Ideal Home: Leon’s ideal family would be experienced dog owners, especially those looking for a second dog. A home with a patient, confident, sociable, and friendly dog would be the perfect match for him. He doesn’t do well with dogs that are overly bossy, hyper, or too young and energetic. Leon is much happier and more confident when he has a calm, canine companion by his side.

A patient adopter who is committed to continuing Leon’s socialization and training would be an excellent match. He would thrive in a quiet neighborhood rather than a bustling downtown environment, where he can feel more at ease. Leon is a very loving and handsome boy, and with ongoing training and increased confidence, he will blossom into an incredible furry companion.

Leon is available for adoption. The fee to adopt Leon is $780.
