Heewon was rescued last summer as part of a group of 16 dogs from a situation of neglect in Korea. The dogs were under the care of an elderly woman in a small village. But as she aged, she was unable to provide adequate care. With her move to a senior home, these dogs found a new chance at life through rescue.

Now in foster care, Heewon lives comfortably in an apartment setting. Initially shy with new faces and places, he takes his time to observe and understand his environment. Yet, given a little patience, Heewon reveals his true nature – a gentle, sweet soul who values the quiet companionship of those he trusts. He may not be the most outwardly affectionate or social dog, but his calm, independent demeanor makes him a comforting presence. He has a special way of showing his affection, like quietly sitting beside his foster after a long day, his tail wagging in quiet contentment.

Heewon’s past with numerous canine companions has shaped him into a dog-friendly individual. Whether as an only pet or with other gentle dogs, he will thrive, bringing his serene and independent spirit to his new home. He’s still mastering the leash walking, displaying a keen interest in the world around him. He particularly enjoys leisurely sniffs outdoors and calmly observing his surroundings.

His dietary needs are straightforward – regular dog food supplemented with sweet potato and chicken, without any known allergies. He’s a good eater, maintaining a healthy appetite.

The ideal home for Heewon would be one that understands and respects his journey. A family with previous dog experience, perhaps working from home or retired, would suit him well. Patience and a deep appreciation for the nuances of rescue dogs are key. Another friendly and gentle dog in the household could serve as a positive role model for Heewon, helping him adjust and learn. While he hasn’t had experience with children, a peaceful, calm household would be the most suitable environment for him.

Heewon is more than just a pet; he’s a testament to the enduring spirit of rescue animals. If you’re ready to offer love, patience, and a peaceful home, Heewon promises to be a loyal, loving, and quietly affectionate companion.
