Dalock

**Note: Dalock is currently at a foster home in Surrey BC.

Background: Rescued from a dog meat farm in Siheung in the spring of 2022, Dalock has come a long way since then. Initially, she lived with other dogs at our partner shelter before moving to a dog training school in Korea, where she received training in leash manners and socialization until she departed from Korea.

Living Environment: Currently, she resides in a foster home in Surrey, BC, along with two small dogs whom she adores.

Personality: Dalock is an adorable girl – intelligent, quick to learn, and full of love. She is shy around strangers in the beginning but once she gets to know them, she becomes very sweet, gentle, and affectionate. Dalock follows her foster around pretty much everywhere.

Behaviors: Indoors, Dalock is quiet and cooperative, allowing her humans to handle tasks like bathing and nail cutting despite feeling nervous. Her food-motivated nature makes training easy, and she readily follows instructions for a tasty reward. The only challenge is for her to wear a harness. Once she wears it, she is great on the leash and walks very well. It is noted that when she was at the training school, she had no fear of wearing a harness. However, after the long flight to the foster home, she shows some fear around it. Nonetheless, we are working on it.

Socialization: Known for her friendly demeanor with other dogs, Dalock thrives in their company. Therefore, we are looking for a home where she can have a furry companion. She blossoms and gains confidence faster when around other dogs. She is also good with people; very gentle and sweet. However, it will take some time for her to warm up. Having other dogs around will help her open up.

Health: Blessed with good health and no food allergies, Dalock is spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Monthly preventative measures safeguard him against internal and external parasites.

Ideal Home: The ideal adopter for Dalock would be someone with another friendly dog and experience in handling shy dogs. Patience and confidence are key. Dalock will be shy initially but has great potential with proper socialization and training. With the right support, she will blossom into a delightful lifelong companion! A house with a fenced backyard is a must for Dalock as she loves zoomies and running around. Also, it may take some time for her to be ready to go for a walk in the new environment; having a safe, fenced yard will make the transition easy and less stressful.
