Update: Songeul has found a forever home in Vancouver. Yay!

*Note: Currently, Songeul is in foster care in Vancouver.

Songeul and her two sisters were rescued from the streets on Dec. 30, 2020 in Paju, Korea. They were about only 3 months old at that time. Songeul was lucky enough to find a foster home and she lived with the foster family until she left Korea to find her forever home in Canada. She is currently staying with a foster in Vancouver with another FKD alumni.

It took a few days for Songeul to warm up to her Canadian foster family, but she is now very comfortable and follows them around, wanting to be wherever they are and asking for pets. She also does well with her canine foster sister whom she plays well with. Overall, Songuel loves playing with other dogs so as long as they are not bossy. She has been enjoying going to the dog park and meeting new dogs. She does bark at some dogs at the dog park, mostly due to excitement. She settles down once she’s had a chance to get properly introduced (ie: sniff each other) and knows and respects boundaries.

Songeul is potty trained and quiet indoors. She will alert back when she hears an unfamiliar noise, but is easily redirected. She is a quick learner and picks up new concepts quickly. Her food/treat motivation and eagerness to please helps with her training, and she’s even picked up a few new tricks! Her foster recently took her to work where she was a big hit. Although she was still cautious with strangers, she allowed new people to pet her in her fosters presence, where she was advocated for. She is ok with car rides, but dislikes vacuums.

Outside, Songuel is quite comfortable and isn’t bothered by many noises. She gets very excited when she knows she is about to go for a walk and walks quite well on leash, but wants to walk at a fast pace when excited. Songuel still has a playful, puppy energy about her, and is a very playful, curious, smart, and affectionate girl.

Her ideal home is one that has experience with dogs, and has the time to spend with her during the day. She would enjoy an active home where she can enjoy walks and hikes and spending time outdoors. Having another playful dog would be ideal.
