Somo is Great Pry/Jindo Mix who was rescued with his brother Miro from a high kill shelter in Geosan, Korea.
The boys currently live in a boarding house with over 80 other dogs and get along with all their “roommates” big or small. He is also very friendly and affectionate with people. Our volunteers have complimented on what great manners they have – being polite to the vet, waiting patiently for their food during meal time, riding in the car nicely, etc. Somo is very social and obedient indoors but is still learning to be comfortable outdoors. He is afraid of his leash (or anything with a long rope) and will glue himself to the ground and refuse to move when outside. It will take time for him to be comfortable and gain confidence.
Somo’s ideal home is one in the suburbs or rural area in a quiet neighborhood. He would require a home with a secure yard (a must) and an adopter who is familiar with desensitization and counter-conditioning approaches to help him become comfortable with his leash, harness, and being outdoors slowly and in a controlled environment without any rush to get him to join in on outdoor activities.
He would do well with another friendly dog to mirror, and to help keep him physically and mentally engaged if he is not ready to go out on walks. Despite his fears, Somo would make an amazing companion.
DHPPL, Canine Influenza, Kennel Cough, Rabies, Corona, Heartworm test, Giardia test, Flea & tick & heartworm prevention are all done.
