Update: Mongyi has found a forever home in Vancouver. Yay!

*Note: Mongyi is in foster care, Coquitlam BC.

Mongyi was one of the 101 dogs who were rescued from the Siheung dog meat farm in Korea in May. After his rescue, he lived at our partner boarding house where he played well and made friends easily with other dogs. After passing his medical and behavior assessments, he flew to Vancouver in search of his forever home, and is currently living with his foster family in Coquitlam.

Mongyi has adapted to life in Canada wonderfully. He is a little timid, yet curious with strangers (he observes from a distance), but is social with the people he has become acquainted with. He likes to stay close by to his people and receive pets and rubs.

This handsome boy currently doesn’t show any signs of separation anxiety. His foster can leave him home alone for 3-4 hours at a time without any issue. When they get home, he gets very excited and will let out a few barks to give them a big welcome home. The quiet and relaxing lifestyle of his foster suits him well. He sleeps through the night.

Mongyi’s favorite toys are rope and stuffy toys, which he likes to gently chew on. Generally, he enjoys the feel and texture of rope toys, towels, and fabrics. However, he must be supervised when doing so to ensure he does not swallow the materials. He does not show any resource guarding with his food or toys.

Mongyi is currently 90% potty trained. He understands the concept of pee pads, and will either relieve himself on the pad or outside when urinating, although he preferred to relieve himself outside. He poops exclusively outside and will not use a pee pad for poop. His foster currently takes him out approximately every 4 hours for him to do his business, and we have no doubt he will be fully potty trained soon with continued consistency.

Outside, Mongyi likes to greet other dogs on his walks and is very polite when doing so, but is also playful. He is medium energy and currently gets about 45 minutes of walks per day. He likes to chase squirrels outside.

Overall, Mongyi is a sweet, easy going, and eager to please boy. His ideal home is one who is living a quiet and relaxed lifestyle. He would appreciate a family who has the time to spend with him, as he is still young. Although he is not demanding, he genuinely enjoys having the presence of humans whether they are working from home or actively giving him attention.
