Update: Hami has found a forever home in Seattle. Yay!

*Hami is currently in foster care in Seattle.

Hami was rescued alongside his three siblings last spring, when they were picked up as strays when they were young puppies. He and his siblings lived with other dogs at our partner boarding house until he left Korea.

Having grown up in a boarding house, Hami is well-socialized with other dogs. He prefers to play with small-medium sized dogs but gets nervous with big dogs or ones with more bossy or assertive personalities. He has been introduced to cats, but does not do well with them. As such, Hami will require a home without cats.

Hami was very sweet and social with the shelter manager and volunteers in Korea. After moving to the US and experiencing such big changes in his young life, he is a little apprehensive with when meeting strangers and needs a little time to warm up.  Hami warms up quicker with women than men, although he is very sweet and affectionate once given the time to get acquainted. He is generally a quiet and relaxed boy who can be timid in new and unfamiliar situations.

He is housetrained, and generally walks well on leash but will pull if he is too stimulated. He does show signs of mild separation anxiety, but is not destructive. Although he has been gradually improving, this might regress when he is moved into a new, unfamiliar home, and require time to help him build his confidence again. He gets nervous during car rides, but is also improving in that area.

It is important to note, the process of moving to a new environment with new people could be confusing for him in the beginning. His adopters should be prepared to be patient and understanding during his adjustment period as he figures out his new life.

Hami would love another small-medium sized, friendly doggy sibling in the household, although this is not a requirement for adoption. A household where someone is home most of the time since he doesn’t like to be left alone. Someone who has experience with dogs and lives in a quiet neighborhood would be great.
