*Note: Donghae is currently with a foster family in Coquitlam, BC
Donghae and his brother, Namhae, were rescued from a high-kill shelter earlier this year. After being rescued, they lived with other dogs in a dog boarding house before flying to Vancouver to find their forever homes. His brother was recently adopted by a family, and now it’s Donghae’s turn!
Donghae is currently with a foster family in Vancouver where he shares his home with another FKD alum. While understandably a little shy and timid (albeit it curious) when he first arrived with his foster, he has warmed up and adjusted quickly. He has become quite comfortable with both his human and canine fsoters. His foster sister has been a great leader for him in helping him find his confidence, and they get along well
This adorable little scruff is very sweet. Donghae has the typical “puppy energy” and is very active and playful. Luckily, his foster sister loves to play too. He is getting more acquainted with putting on his leash and harness with time and walks quite well on leash, keeping with his handler’s pace. He enjoys going to the dark park with his foster sister, but is still shy when playing with other dogs other than his foster sister, although it is obvious he is curious. He simply needs some time to meet new friends.
Donghae is currently working on potty training, which is also coming along well as he is slowly but surely learning the new routine. We have no doubt he will learn to be fully potty trained soon. This boy his very food motivated, which helps with his training while helping him create positive associations in new and unfamiliar situations.
His ideal home is where people are home for the majority of the day to spend with him as he is still young. His adopter should also be committed to continuing his socialization with people and other dogs. Donghae would love another friendly dog sibling to play with and mirror, although this is not a requirement for adoption.
Donghae means “east sea” in Korean.
