Update: Deokgu has found a forever home in Toronto. Yay!
Deokgu was found on the streets with a broken leg (right front) in the spring, of 2019 when he was about 3 months old, and then sent to a high kill shelter. After seeing the poor baby suffering in pain, a staff member at the shelter brought him to the vet to have his leg examined, pulling him from euthanasia which he would have inevitably faced. Deokgu underwent surgery and recovered well. As he was so young when he suffered the injury, and likely lived with the injury for a long time, Deokgu took some time to learn how to walk properly and put weight on his front paw again. He walks with no issues but has a noticeable difference in mobility with his front leg which looks like he has a bit of a hop. The vet has advised this does not cause any pain or discomfort, nor does it affect his quality of life.
Deokgu currently stays with a foster family in Korea who notes he is very quiet, submissive, and obedient. Although he is shy around strangers and it usually takes some time for him to warm up, once he gets to know them, he becomes sweet and friendly.
Deokgu is also good with other dogs: he likes gentle and friendly dogs but is afraid of bossy, hyper, or dominant dogs.
The ideal adopter of Deokgu is someone who lives a relaxing lifestyle and works from home or is retired. Someone with the patience and understanding to help him settle in will be great.
The adoption fee for Deokgu is $260CAD.
DHPPL, Canine Influenza, Kennel Cough, Rabies, Corona, Heartworm test, Giardia test, Flea & tick & heartworm prevention are all done.
