Betty and Joey’s heartbreaking story began when they were discovered together in a small village last spring. They were found chained and left alone in an empty and abandoned farmhouse, with their owner sporadically visiting and leaving inedible human food waste for them. Thankfully, our dedicated volunteer started providing them proper food every few days, forging a close bond with the two dogs. However, one day, she realized they had disappeared. Shockingly, their owner had sold them to a dog meat seller. By a stroke of luck, our volunteer managed to intervene just in time, rescuing them from an unimaginable fate at the butcher’s shop.

Following their rescue, Betty and Joey found solace at our partner boarding house, where they have been living alongside other dogs since then, slowly healing from their traumatic past. Joey found his forever family early this year in Vancouver. It is now Betty’s turn.

Betty, initially a bit shy around strangers, required some time to adjust when we brought her to the boarding house. However, after a week of patient nurturing, she blossomed into a sweet and friendly companion. Betty possesses a gentle, sweet, submissive, and obedient nature, and never engages in fights with other dogs. She shares a harmonious bond with her fellow canines and also shows gentleness and kindness towards people.

Betty loves walks and being near people. She’s a little shy but sticks close like a shadow. She’s sweet, mellow, and very quiet (almost never barks).

Betty’s perfect adopter would be someone who leads a relaxed lifestyle in a peaceful neighborhood. Ideally, someone who is retired or works from home would be a great match. With patience and understanding, Betty is sure to become an inseparable and loving part of your family, forever grateful for the comfort and care she receives.
