Update: Anna has found a forever home in Seattle. Yay!

Anna was found in a remote area in January 2022. She was caught in an animal trap, unable to move. The trap caused significant damage to her leg, which eventually could not be saved and needed to be amputated.

Since being rescued, she has been living in a private shelter with other dogs. Likely due to her traumatic experience, Anna was very agoraphobic when she first arrived at the shelter and preferred to spend her time indoors. She was sent to a trainer in July to help her improve her confidence and socialization, and has made tremendous progress. Anna now loves going for walks and spending time outdoors. She walks well on leash and is very good at following the trainer’s direction. She has proven to be very smart.

Anna is very sweet and submissive with humans. She has a mellow and quiet personality, and is quite easy going when meeting new people. She opens up to strangers quickly and lets strangers pet her belly.

However, Anna needs time to adapt to new environmental changes. When taken to a new, unfamiliar place, she is apprehensive and can be nervous until she is given time to settle in and get familiar with her new surroundings. She is easily startled by loud noises – cars, motorcycles, construction noises, and fire alarms. When startled, she either tries to flee the situation or lies down on the floor.

Anna knows how to use peepads indoors, but prefers to do her business outdoors (in areas she is familiar with).

Anna’s ideal home is someone living a relaxed lifestyle. She would be happiest getting to stay at home rather than being a hiking or camping buddy (or any other situation that changes her environment and puts her in new and unfamiliar situations). Her home should be in a quiet neighborhood outside of the city, and away from busy streets where sounds of cars and trucks etc. are a common occurrence). Anna would benefit from someone with experience and who can lead her with both confidence and kindness. Having direct access to a secure, fenced in yard is highly preferred, although not a requirement for her adoption.

The adoption fee for Anna is $460CAD.
