Dara

* NOTE: Due to COVID19 and a shortage of flight volunteers, the dog will be transported by cargo flights, which will cost around $2,000 CAD. Free Korean Dogs would appreciate a contribution of $1,000 from future family towards the cargo fee to help with transportation and costs. The total fee for Dara is $1,960 CAD ($960 CAD for adoption+$1,000 CAD for cargo flight). Dara arrives in Toronto on June 29, 2021.

Dara was rescued with her mother and 5 siblings from a man who kept dogs to sell to the meat trade. He kept them in an empty house and only went to check on them once every 2-3 weeks to bring food that was never enough. The dogs were malnourished and in a very neglected state upon their rescue, but are now healthy and ready to find their homes. Someone living nearby who knew what the owner was doing eventually reached out for help. The dogs were eventually surrendered and brought to our partner boarding house where they lived with other dogs. 4 of the puppies were eventually adopted in Korea, leaving Dara left. Their mother is currently undergoing heartworm treatment.

Despite their isolation in their early years, Dara loves to be around people and other dogs. She is social and affectionate.

Her ideal home would be with a family who is able to continue with socialization, as she is still young, as well as in a home where someone is home for the majority the day (retired or working from home) to spend quality time with her. Having another friendly dog in the home would be ideal. The adopter should note separation anxiety can be more common in younger dogs.

Dara is a Dachshund and Jindo mix.

Vaccination Details

DHPPL, Canine Influenza, Kennel Cough, Rabies, Corona, Heartworm test, Giardia test, Flea & tick & heartworm prevention are all done.
