May was rescued from a dog meat seller last spring when she was a puppy, and lived in the shelter for a year. Unfortunately, the shelter manager fell ill, but May was lucky enough to find a foster home.

As a border collie, May is very smart and learns very quickly. She has good manners, walks well on leash, is house trained, and is very patient and obedient when bathing, grooming, etc. She also has experience with cats in her current foster home, who she has good manners with.

Although May does not show “typical” signs of separation anxiety such as becoming vocal or destructive, she will not eat until her foster mom comes home from work. A trainer has said this is a form of separation anxiety – she is too anxious to eat without her humans around.

For this reason, May would require a home where someone is home for the majority of the day, with a secure yard for her to run around and expend her energy. Someone who has experience and understanding of her breed (and herding breeds in general) is ideal, as well as knowledge on how to keep her physically and mentally stimulated, which is especially important for a breed like her.
