Our first-ever adoption event at Wooftown in Toronto was a great success. There was a wonderful turnout on hand to snuggle, smooch and cuddle our gang of Korean rescue puppies. It was a wonderful socialization opportunity for the pups and an even greater opportunity to raise awareness about the Korean dog meat trade.
We are so grateful to the wonderful people at Wooftown for being such gracious hosts. Special shout out to Hanna for reaching out and to Jon for giving us the run of the house.
The event was a wonderful mix of new and old faces. Our very own Sue Dao came all the way from New York City with her daughter to attend the event. She and Gina have been instrumental to the success of our adoptions in New York, so it was great to spend some time together.
We also had a few previous adopters show up with their dogs, including my dear Tasha, who stayed with us about a year ago with her brood of rowdy rescue pups. So happy that Tasha and Jordon, another of our rescues, found a loving forever home.
There was also some star power on hand to add a bit of celebrity profile to the event. Antony Robart, anchor of Global News at 11, and his family adopted our dear Minky. We’re so happy to see Minky go to such a solid family, and I’m sure she’ll fit right in with Christine’s pack for morning walks.
You Made this Adoption Event Happen
This event was possible because of the generous support of the entire Free Korean Dogs family. We needed to raise $2,500 to ship the dogs from our rescue shelter in Korea to our headquarters in Toronto. The community came together to make it happen, and in less than two weeks we had the funds needed to send the dogs Home for the Holidays. This proves that together we can make a real difference in the lives of these precious and deserving pups.
We are looking forward to many more events throughout the year, so please stay tuned. In the meantime, Happy New Year to all!
Thank you so much for all of the great work you do to help end the dog meat trade..words are simply not enough….I am a member of Soi dog foundation…and I live in Australia…can we do the same here ? I mean, arrange an adoption day for dogs saved from the meat trade ?
Thank you :)
i think you are doing great work and i find it digusting the koreans and chinese eat dog meat.

thank you for your good work. i have had 5 rescue animals and they all were sweet and loveable..
it is so sad because we found one of our cats in a burger king in SC on my way to visit my parents, we took it to my parents house, i flea dipped it and the next day she was at the vet. she is gone now but we loved her and we still have a pickle magnet on the refrigerator that she love to knock down.
thank you
