The Shoe of Life

December 26, 2017 by EK Park, Executive Director 2 Comments

Chungsol Shelter, located in a remote area of South Korea, is the home to 93 dogs and cats, not all Dalmations.  The 93 plus 1 dogs come from all walks of life and live with a Buddhist Nun, Chungsol.  Each dog escaped its horrible fate from the dog meat trade, high kill shelter or abusive owners.

The latest addition to the shelter – Dog #94 joined Chungsol two weeks ago.  It was one fine day when Chungsol was taking a rest at the shelter.  She noticed her shoes were chewed by one of her many dogs she loved very much.  Chungsol decided it was time for her to visit the market to look for a new pair.

As Chungsol explored the market filled with all types of vendors, she walked by a dog tonic shop.  The thought of human consumption of a dark colored liquid made of dog meat and herbs gave Chungsol the worst chills.  She picked up her speed, hoping to walk by the dog tonic shop without any possible visual contact.  But only to be stopped by a weak whimper of a dog confined in a cage.  She saw the scar around its neck, a type of scar that never got to heal because the dog was chained for its whole life and no one cared to adjust the chain as the dog grew bigger.

“Can I take care of one more dog? I already have 93 dogs and cats who need my love and care.  Am I capable of doing more?”   The hesitation lasted for merely half a second.  Chungsol approached the owner of the dog tonic shop and bought #94 from the shop owner for 200,000 Won ($200 USD).  She took #94 to the nearest animal hospital for an emergency neck surgery.

The dog who chewed Chungsol’s shoes saved #94’s life.

#94’s name is Moo-Myeong and lives in the shelter with other 93 dogs and cats.  The shoe of life brought them all together.

Free Korean Dogs will bring Moo-Myeong (aka #94) to Toronto, Canada when Moo-Myung finishes his vaccinations and neutering.  The targeted arrival date for Moo-Myeong to arrive Canada is February.  Moo-Myeong is a very sweet 1 year old male Jindo mixed who gets along well with other dogs. If you are interested in adopting #94 Moo-Myeong, please submit your adoption application.

Chungsol. Keep up your precious and loving compassion and care you show for all the precious dogs and cats that you have saved from the monsters who torture precious and innocent dogs and cats to death.
You are a fabulous person and deserve to be shown all the love and care you deserve. Bless you and all the precious and innocent animals that you have saved from a violent and sadistic death.
