Life Lessons from Onjung:

February 22, 2020 by Sara Liao, Board of Directors & Adoption Manager 1 Comment

They often say we can learn a lot from dogs, which is certainly true of Onjung’s story. She teaches us that even when life gives you spoiled lemons, you can still make lemonade.

Onjung was found on the streets of Korea last summer. She had been hit by a car and covered in blood, but despite her whimpers for help no one stopped to show any concern until a good samaritan found her.

This brave girl was spent several months in the hospital for her recovery, but she unfortunately lost the use of her 2 legs which the vets could not save. She suffers from paralysis and uses a wheelchair for mobility, taking to it well. Regardless, she is easygoing, optimistic, and curious. Even when she was experiencing injury related pain, she never complained nor was demanding. She is simply thankful.

Onjung does recognise she is differently abled, and as such only relieves herself when people are around to make things easier for everyone. She also sometimes alerts people if she feels unclean, to ask to be wiped down and cleaned. It’s a small task in exchange for all her affections.

Although she was lucky enough to find a foster home, she is unfortunately left alone for most of the day as her foster works full outside the home. While we appreciate that she is safe and cared for, we know she deserves more. We owe her the life that we took from her at such a young age – the ability to simply enjoy outdoor walks with the people she loves.

Now that all her medical treatments have been completed, there is nothing stopping her from finding her forever home. If you are looking for a loyal companion, or wondered what it’s like to be loved unconditionally, let Onjung show you the way.

What an absolutely fabulous story. How do I apply to adopt her I have the perfect home it’s got a lovely deck and a ramp to get to the driveway. No stairs. I have two ther dogs that are extremely friendly and would be great companions for this beautiful little darling.

Thank you for all you have done for her.
