Matilda is a 2-year-old female Labrador mix rescued from Korea. This sweet girl is looking for her forever home in Toronto.
I have fostered so many Korean rescue dogs. If I could keep one, it would be Matilda. She is the most submissive, obedient, and gentle dog. You can tell from her facial expressions that she appreciates this new world. She is loving every moment here in Canada.

Last October, EK received an email from Sasha, an English teacher from Jeju Island in South Korea, about Matilda. He came across a very sweet stray dog on the streets and started feeding her occasionally. To his surprise, Matilda did not show up for several days.
When Matilda finally returned, she was limping. Something happened to her leg – it looked like it had been bitten. Sasha was very concerned and wanted to rescue Matilda because the environment was not safe for a number of reasons. There was a real possibility that a dog meat seller would try to catch Matilda, as Jeju Island is known for its dog meat markets and hidden dog meat farms.
Thanks to our volunteers in Jeju Island, we were able to make arrangements to transport Matilda up to Ilsan in South Korea. Matilda stayed in a Korean shelter for six months where she received medical treatment. After the X-rays and checkups, it was discovered that her kneecap was dislocated and also she needed an operation for Pyometra. All of the medical procedures were handled and she was no longer in pain afterwards. (In the future, there is still a possibility that she will require a surgery for her leg.)
On April 16, Matilda flew to Canada to find her forever home. She is submissive, obedient, easy going, and gentle. She follows commands, is a great snuggler, walks well on the leash, and rarely barks. She likes to go out and sit on the fresh grass. She also enjoys playing with small dogs, especially puppies.
We believe that Matilda would do best in the following situation… a family that has a house, a backyard, experience with a big dog, rescue dog experience, a quiet home environment, no children, and a consistent schedule.
Matilda is currently being fostered in Toronto and looking for her forever loving home.
