Give Yellow a Chance at a Bright Future

November 9, 2018 by EK Park, Executive Director

Yellow is a 2yr old lab. And like her name suggests, her personality is positive and bright. She is very sweet and friendly to everyone! Yellow was one of the lucky dogs rescued from a dog meat farm in Dangjin, Korea on September 1st.
For the first two months after rescue she stayed at a shelter in Changnyung, Korea. During that time, she was spayed and had all her vaccinations done. She was such a sweetheart that everyone from volunteers to veterinary staff who met her, fell in love with her.

On October 26th, she flew to Toronto, Canada looking for her forever home. She arrived with her shelter mates. She was so happy and excited to see us at Pearson airport arrivals. She constantly wagged her tail in the crate until we brought her to a foster home. She was so happy to get out of the crate and see her Korean shelter mates, that even after a long flight, she ran around and played with enthusiasm.

Unfortunately, after a couple of days, we noticed that her back right leg was positioned at a slightly weird angle. Although she had no problems running around and playing we wanted to see a vet to make sure she was okay. Today on November, 9th. we got the results. The x-rays showed early signs of hip dysplasia. Yellow will have pain sooner or later and will have to live with pain medication.

The vet recommended Femoral Head Ostecomy (FHO) and the surgery date is next Friday November the 16th. The good news is that 95% of the dogs who undergo the surgery, recover very well after it. The recovery time is about 8 to 12 weeks.

We decided to go ahead to try and help our wonderful Yellow and do the Femoral Head Ostecomy (FHO) surgery. But now we need your help! The surgery would cost $1600CAD and we need your support to reach this goal.

Even though Yellow has suffered for a long time at the dog meat farm, she still loves and trusts people and we must prove her right. Let’s give her the wonderful happy life that she deserves.
