Background: In December 2022, during the bitter cold of winter, Sia was rescued from a dog meat farm in Ganghwa, Korea, along with 50 other lucky dogs. Since then, she has been living at our partner shelter, where she has found comfort and companionship with other dogs.

Personality and Socialization: Sia is a volunteer favorite, adored for her affectionate, laid-back and easygoing nature. With a low to medium energy level, she loves to cuddle but never demands attention. She’s gentle, friendly, and always happy to be by your side—whether that means snuggling up with you or quietly relaxing nearby.

One of her favorite pastimes is basking in the sun or sitting by the heater, soaking in the warmth. She also gets along well with other dogs, especially those who are calm and friendly. Sia is thoughtful and respectful—if another dog needs space, she’ll simply sit beside them without being intrusive. She has no experience with cats or young children.

Behaviours: Sia is very easy to care for. She’s quiet, and is calm in the car, at the vet, and during baths. While she may feel a little nervous in new situations, she is trusting and allows her humans to guide her. She’s also wonderful on a leash, enjoying peaceful walks at a steady pace. She is mostly house-trained and prefers doing her business outside but will use indoor pee pads when needed.

Health and Diet: When Sia was rescued, her left eye was injured—likely from an attack by other dogs. After careful consideration and consultation with our vet, we made the difficult decision to remove her eye in February 2025. Throughout her hospitalization, she was very patient and sweet, earning compliments from the vet staff. Even after returning to the boarding house, Sia bounced back almost immediately, showing remarkable resilience and positivity. She never let her injury slow her down, and her inspiring spirit continues to shine.

Sia is in great health, fully vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped. She has tested negative for parasites, including heartworms, and receives monthly parasite prevention. She eats dry food twice a day and has no known allergies.

Ideal Home: Sia is a mellow and loving girl who would thrive in a calm and caring home. She would do well as a solo companion or with another gentle dog. Whether you’re a first-time dog owner or someone looking for an easygoing companion, Sia will fit right in. She enjoys walks but is just as happy lounging beside you, soaking in the love and warmth of a home.

Having spent two years in a shelter, Sia has been patiently waiting for a family to call her own. After enduring the harsh conditions of the meat trade, she deserves nothing less than a life filled with love, comfort, and kindness. Give Sia the second chance she’s been waiting for, and she’ll repay you with endless snuggles and unwavering loyalty.
