Background: IU was rescued from a city pound in Incheon early this year, where she had lived for seven months. Volunteers at the city pound adored her, always praising her affectionate and well-mannered personality. When all the other dogs barked for attention, IU sat quietly, patiently waiting for someone to notice her. She greeted people with kisses and hugs, showing nothing but love. Knowing she deserved a second chance, we rescued her and placed her in a foster home, where she has been thriving.
Personality and Socialization: IU is a true people-lover. She greets strangers with a wagging tail and is always ready to give kisses. She enjoys belly rubs and loves being close to her humans. Even when she saw a mannequin in a store, she got excited, thinking it was a real person. She’s a social butterfly and wins hearts wherever she goes.
With other dogs, IU is polite and friendly but more interested in people. She greets dogs calmly but doesn’t engage much in play. If another dog barks or growls, she simply steps back without reacting. She does well in group settings, like at dog cafés, but prefers calm and gentle dogs over high-energy ones.
She has not lived with cats but is curious about them. If a cat runs, she may want to chase but does not show aggression. IU has also not lived with young children. She watches kids with curiosity but can be a little nervous if they are loud or move suddenly.
Behaviors: IU is a dream to walk. She follows her person’s pace, listens well, and makes eye contact during walks. She waits patiently at crosswalks and has great leash manners, never pulling or reacting negatively. She enjoys using her nose to explore and loves watching birds and ducks.
She is well-behaved at home, staying quiet and calm when left alone. She does not bark or scratch at the door but may wait by it at first. She is house-trained and only does her business outside, preferring quiet grassy areas.
IU is comfortable in the car and does not get motion sickness. She enjoys looking out the window but should be secured. She does well with baths as long as the water pressure starts low. Loud noises like hair dryers can startle her, but she adjusts with patience and gentle handling.
Health and Diet: IU is in good health. She has been spayed, microchipped, dewromed and had her teeth cleaned. Her coat is very soft, and everyone who pets her comments on it. She eats Now kibble and has no known food allergies.
Ideal Home: IU is looking for a family who will give her the love she craves. She thrives in a home where someone is around most of the time, as she adores human companionship. While she does well with other dogs, she would be happiest as the only dog or with a calm, gentle companion. A home with a secure yard in a quiet neighborhood would be ideal.
She would do best with a patient and loving family who will continue to build her confidence. A predictable routine will help her settle into her new environment. IU is an affectionate, loyal, and sweet girl who will bring endless love to her forever family.
