Background: Haneul is an incredibly resilient and inspiring girl. She was one of the 110 dogs rescued from a city pound in Chuncheon, Korea, where our team worked to save dogs from euthanasia. During our visit last fall, we noticed a dog with three legs, her right front leg brutally cut, leaving exposed bone. Despite her condition, she was still jumping and wagging her tail, greeting us with a smile. The pound staff tried to hide her from us, unwilling to let her receive emergency care. It was a heartbreaking scene, but we immediately took her to our vet. She underwent surgery to remove what was left of her leg, and now she is thriving—walking well, pain-free, and full of life. We don’t know exactly what happened to her, but we believe she was likely caught in a trap, causing her to lose a paw and suffer severe tissue damage. After her rescue, she stayed at our manager’s home with other dogs until she fully recovered. Now, she’s at our boarding house, patiently waiting for her forever family.

Personality and Socialization: Haneul’s incredible survival story is a true testament to her spirit. Despite all she has endured, she remains positive, resilient, and full of joy. She has a medium energy level and absolutely adores people—men, women, and even strangers. She loves saying hello to everyone and simply enjoys hanging out with her humans. In fact, that’s her favorite thing—going out, breathing in the fresh air, and spending quality time with her people.

When it comes to other dogs, Haneul is very social and friendly. She gets along well with both small and large dogs, as long as they are not aggressive or overly dominant. However, she has no experience with cats or young children.

Behavirous: She walks beautifully on a leash, has good manners, and enjoys car rides. She is well-behaved during vet visits and grooming, handling baths with ease. Haneul prefers doing her potty outdoors but will use indoor pee pads if necessary. She loves playing with toys and other dogs. Her warm and cheerful nature makes her an absolute joy to be around.

Health and Diet: When Haneul was rescued, she had heartworms. She underwent treatment and is now completely healthy and ready for her forever home. Her right front leg was amputated, but she has adapted seamlessly and shows no signs of discomfort or trauma. She is spayed, microchipped, dewormed, and takes monthly parasite preventatives. Haneul has a great appetite and enjoys her kibble twice a day, with no known allergies.

Ideal Home: In Korean, Haneul means “sky,” and just like a bright blue sky, she radiates happiness, freshness, and inspiration. She carries a contagious positive energy that makes everyone around her smile. Haneul is social and playful and would thrive in a home with another playful dog. However, she would also do well as the only dog in a home where she receives plenty of love, attention, and exercise. She is easy to care for—energetic when it’s time to play and relaxed when it’s time to rest. An ideal home for her would be with someone who has a relaxed lifestyle and lots of time to spend with her. She’s a sweet, content girl who loves the simple things in life. We’re sure her forever family is out there, ready to give her the love she deserves.
