NOTE: Bambi (aka Katie) is currently with a foster family in Vancouver, BC. Only applicants in the greater Vancouver and surrounding areas will be considered for adoption.

Bambi was one of three puppies who was rescued from the streets of Paju, Korea. After she was rescued, she lived in a boarding house with other dogs for a year and was later lucky enough to find a foster home in Korea. She is currently with a foster family in Vancouver, BC.

Although Bambi was cared for with the best intentions in mind, she was not provided with the effective support and management needed for her to succeed. However, having already seen her potential and best version of herself, we know Bambi will make a great companion with a bit of training.

Bambi is quite an independent girl, and likes to spend her day laying around the home and happy to do her own thing. However, independent girls need love too and she will happily show her belly and ask for rubs from people she loves and trusts. She is a bit shy around strangers but will do fine when given the time to warm up, especially in an outdoor environment. She is also quite food motivated once settled in her home, which will help her make positive associations with new people and situations.

Bambi loves to be outside, especially when it means she gets to go to the park and play with other dogs. Getting to run around and play with other dogs whether at the dog park or at doggy day care is one of her favorite things in the world. When playing with humans, she can be quite excited and was inadvertently rewarded for improper ways of playing and greeting people (such as greeting people with 2 paws when excited) She is learning to correct these habits by using the proper etiquette.

She is house trained and rides well in the car. She also walks well on leash, but pulls a bit during the beginning when excited, or when she needs to find the perfect spot to relieve herself.

Bambi’s ideal home is one that:

  • is experienced with dogs and has a basic understanding of the foundations of training, particularly in positive reinforcement and clear and consistent communication.
  • understands how to provide leadership, as well as clear rules and boundaries.
  • lives an active lifestyle and enjoys outdoor activities where she can be included.
  • has a doggy sibling for Bambi to engage with (if not, a strong circle of canine friends she can socialize regularly with)
  • does not have young children visiting regularly (Bambi finds children scary and confusing)
