Ilia is a sweet, loving and loyal girl. As a puppy, she was saved from the dog meat trade in South Korea. Now she’s here in Toronto with a foster family, where she gets to spend her days playing with her toys, getting lots of treats, pets and affection and hanging out with her foster family in the backyard.

Ilia, like any individual who’s arrived to a foreign country where people speak a different language and have different faces…was quite shy at first. In fact, she was downright terrified. But in just a couple of weeks she’s become a completely different pooch. Everytime her foster parents do as little as look in her direction she starts to wag her tail profusely with joy. When you’re petting her, she hardly wants you to stop. She’ll nudge your hands with her nose, telling you to pet her some more. She’s started to learn how to master the “sit” command and demonstrates patience when her foster parents prepare her meals. Although she loves her people and likes to be near them, for the most part she’s quite an independent girl and can easily be left quietly at home for a few hours.

She’s housetrained and has significantly improved her indoor accidents to once a while, few and far between. True to her Jindo breed, she knows when strangers are in the home. Guests will need to be introduced slowly and calmly, then she’ll be absolutely accepting and warm towards them. Ilia is a true sweetheart and all she needs is a loving family who can return the copious amounts of love that she already has to give, with patience. Ilia would do best in a one or two person adult household and ideally without other pets. She’s fine with other dogs, but if given the choice seems to prefer to get all of her parents’ attention.
