*Note: Soondol is in foster care, Guelph, ON,

Soondol was purchased from a pet shop in Korea by a family who had young kids. Unfortunately, the children were not taught how to properly interact with him. They were rough and did not respect his boundaries. One day, they dropped him, causing a broken leg. The leg was treated and fully healed, but the family admitted they were not well suited for Soondol and ended up surrendering him to a high kill shelter. Soondol was rescued right before he was scheduled for euthanaisa.  He lived at our partner boarding house with other dogs until he left Korea.

He is your “typical” poodle who is very sweet and affectionate with people, and also very smart. As such, Soondol would benefit from a home who could provide him with structure, rules, and boundaries. Otherwise, he would likely make up his own and declare himself the boss. He needs a confident and consistent, yet fair leader he knows he can trust and rely on. He is very affectionate and sweet.

Soondol is more of a “people dog” than a “dog dog”, meaning he prefers the company of humans. He does well with other small dogs, but is afraid of large dogs.

His ideal home is one that has experience with dogs, and especially experience with the breed, smart poodle. His adopter should have the knowledge and experience in providing rules and boundaries for him. Someone who has the time to spend with him and provide him with mental stimulation for a smart boy like him would be ideal.
