Mars

*Note: Mars is currently with his foster family in Vancouver. 

Mars, Basenji and Jindo mix, was rescued from a dog meat farm on Jeju island last spring. After being rescued, he lived at our partner boarding house with over 80 other dogs until he left Korea to fly to Canada to find his forever home.

Mars currently lives with another dog (a FKD alumnus) who he gets along well with. Overall, Mars is good with dogs. He is well balanced and plays well with a variety of different personalities.

With people, Mars is a obedient, sweet, and friendly boy who enjoys human interations. He does fine with children as long as they are respectful and don’t try to chase him. Mars is also very smart: he learns new things quickly and can even open a door. He has learned to sit on command with his current foster, and can catch treats in the air. Being very food driven helps motivate him when training. He does not have paw sensitivity and will happily lie on his side to have his nails trimmed. He also enjoys a good belly rub.

Mars has an easy going personality and is medium energy. He is happy to lay around the house during “down time” but also has the energy and stamina to go for long walks or runs without needing to rest. He loves to sit in the sun in the yard, run around outside playing, or can be found doing rollie pollies on the grass. Inside the home, he is calm and quiet and does great being alone (although he does have a penchant for shoes when people aren’t looking!)

This good boy’s ideal home would be with someone who lives a relaxed lifestyle while being active and enjoys outdoors activities like hikes, etc. He would love another doggy sibling to run around and play with and learn from, although he would also be fine as the only dog in the household. Mars would love enjoy a secure yard to run around and lounge in. However, this would be a preference and not a requirement for adoption. Whoever adopts this gentle, sweet baby is very lucky.

DHPPL, Canine Influenza, Kennel Cough, Rabies, Corona, Heartworm test, Giardia test, Flea & tick & heartworm prevention are all done.
