* NOTE: Due to recent flight/travel restrictions resulting from Covid-19, it will take longer for your adopted dogs to get to you. Please only submit an application if you are able to wait until a flight volunteer can be secured. Please note we currently do not have a definitive timeline.
Our regular method of transporting dogs using flight volunteers has drastically decreased due to current flight/travel restrictions. An alternative, quicker option of flying via cargo can be made available, although at a greater financial cost. The cost can range from $1,000 CAD to $4,500 CAD depending on the size and weight of the dog, airline, and destination city. Dogs traveling via cargo will be able to arrive sooner as they are not dependent on travelers to bring them.
Ilshik and Dooshik are two biological brothers who were among 14 puppies rescued from a man who raised dogs to sell to the meat trade. Their brother is the handsome Samshik. They have since been living with one of our partners, a humble shelter in the remote mountain regions of Korea run by a Buddhist nun who cares for a number of dogs rescued from the dog meat trade, where they have been living for the past 4 years.
As Ilshik and Dooshik live with other dogs in the shelter, they are well socialized – friendly and playful. They also love when volunteers come by as this means extra fun and playtime! Although the shelter world is all they know, and they have a lot to learn about the “outside world”, when these boys are together they can get through anything. They are smart and pick up new concepts quickly – such as their recent leash training where they are learning to get comfortable in a harness and the concept of a leash. They have a lot of potential, but can only grow much when their circumstances limit their opportunities to blossom.
Their ideal home would be in a house (no condo or apt, please) in a quiet suburban or rural neighborhood with a secure yard. A calm, quiet, low activity home would be required, preferably with more active humans who enjoy outdoors and hikes (where they would most likely feel the most at home once they are settled). His humans would also be experienced with dogs and dog communication, and will have the patience and understanding to let them settle in at their own pace.
Ilshik and Samshik have been waiting for a family and home to call their own for the past 4 years. They deserve a happy life and the opportunity to make up for their puppy years and will make wonderful companions to a lucky family with some time, patience, and love.
DHPPL, Canine Influenza, Kennel Cough, Rabies, Corona, Heartworm test, Giardia test, Flea & tick & heartworm prevention are all done.
