Update: Elsa has found a forever home in Toronto. Yay!

Elsa will arrive in Toronto on Aug. 14, 2021.

Elsa was picked up as a stray and sent to a high kill shelter. She was rescued before being euthanized and triaged into a private rescue group. As a small puppy, she was very popular and was quickly adopted by an expat couple who was living in Korea at the time.

As a young puppy with little life experience, the changes were very hard on Elsa and she was very confused and scared. She didn’t understand why she had to leave her caregivers and friends, and when moved to her new home didn’t want to leave her crate. 2 months later, the couple surrendered her because they wanted a social dog, but Elsa was “disappointingly timid”.

Elsa currently lives in a foster home (in Korea) and is still working on building her confidence given all that she endured as a puppy. She is very shy and timid, but has made a lot of progress and is getting comfortable with her foster mom. She is still scared of human touch, but is very submissive. She will tense up and freeze when approached and is getting used to her leash, harness, elevator, and new experiences in general. For these reasons, Elsa is peepad trained.

This girl has a lot of potential, as we have already seen her blossom and open up. She is treat motivated, which helps her associate strangers with positive things. Elsa also loves to play with other dogs and is most happy and confident around them.

The ideal home is someone who has experience working with timid dogs, with the patience and understanding to help her settle at her own pace. We are specifically looking for a home with a secure yard, as well as another friendly dog she can mirror. Elsa has a lot to learn, but also has a lot of potential.
