We’ve concluded another successful Freedom Walk, and we couldn’t have done it without you! Thank you to everyone who participated, donated, shared our mission, and cheered us on. We are excited to announce we raised $13,769 this year, all of which will be put towards supporting our dog meat trade rescues.
Our Freedom Walk this year, like many other events, was held virtually this year in light of the pandemic. But that didn’t stop our supporters from going out and participating on their own 5K walks, some of them an impressive 10k, others dedicated to doing their walk every day of the week!
Today, 45 dog meat trade rescues remain in Korea under FKD’s care, rehabilitating physically and emotionally until they are ready to find their forever families in Canada. These include Scarlet and Dori, who have navigated through a myriad of health issues since their rescue – an aggressive tumor and potential brain damage respectively. Your support has allowed us to provide dogs like them the medical attention and treatments needed to lead long and healthy lives.
We understand this year has been one of numerous ups and downs, and many have experienced challenging times personally, emotionally, and financially. We have been no exception in being on the receiving end of this overwhelming year. Our sincerest thank you’s go out to each and everyone in our community for being the bright light in these otherwise dreary times. Nothing brings us greater joy than to see our rescue dogs living the life all dogs should – with loving families, warm beds, and the freedom to just be a dog. Your unwavering support means the world to us, and we promise we will continue to do the best for our rescues.
We hope to be able to see everyone in person again when it is safe to do so. Until then, please keep in touch and continue to send us all your photos and updates, which reminds us why we continue to do what we do.
